Organise my Makeup and Toiletries

Tips to Get your Makeup and Toiletries organised today!
Use these tips to get your organising off to a flying start!

  • If you go to the gym regularly , or travel regularly - why not have a set of toiletries and makeup ready in your bags - saving time transferring from your main sets, and also negating the worry about forgetting to pack something? Most chemists and places such as BOOTS sell small bottles that you can dispense your items into, or simply buy travel size bottles when you next go shopping.
  • Have a small makeup bag that only has on it what you use daily - keep all the evening makeup in another place - then you won't have to keep rifling through everything to find things every morning.
  • Change your makeup with the seasons, as your skin will change also - and if you are a lady you may well change your hair colour - so you need to adapt your makeup so that it works with your look.
  • Ensure all your makeup is in date and leak free - the rules for makeup once opened are as follows:-
    • Cream or Compact Foundation or blusher: 18 months
    • Concealer and cream eye shadows: 12-18 months
    • Powder, Blusher, eye shadow and Bronzer: 2 years
    • Eye liner: 2 years (liquid eye liner: 3-6 months)
    • Mascara: 3 months
    • Lipstick, lip liner and gloss: 2 years
    • Nail Varnish: 1 year

  • Try not to have loads of toiletries out in your bathroom - as you will end up using bits of every one, it will look messy, and you will more often than not not use all that you have before you find you have to throw it away. Have one bottle of each item you use daily out, and make a pact not to start a new one until that ones all gone (this works well for shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, bath gel etc....). NB the only multiples that should be out are if you and your family members have different needs.
  • Get your family into the habit of having a basket for their toiletries that they keep in the bedroom. The basket can be brought into the bathroom when required. This makes tidying up easy, and all family members can have their own sets which stops and arguing!
  • Have baskets for each type of toiletry - then you can easily see what you have and what you need to purchase.
  • Toiletries are a frequenty given present - as they come in lovely sets - but more often than not you either don't like the frangrance, or only use one or two of the bottles (i was given 4 bottles of foot scrub as parts of sets one christmas!). If you find you have lots of excess bottles, either regroup them and wrap them up for presents for others (wrapping in cellophane with a gorgeous ribbon will look great and allows you to see whats inside), or give away to charity - DON'T just keep them!.
  • If you want to downsixe your collection - try multi use products - you can get shampoo/conditioners, shower gel/bath gel etc....
